Litebeams has produced lighting products for the air transportation industry since 1947, using cold cathode technology. This technology provides lighting products that typically use one third of the energy consumption of incandescent lighting, and has an operating life of 20,000-50,000 hours. Infrared capability is available for all lights.

All lights are compatible with night vision devices. In 1998, Litebeams developed a new lamp for aviation lighting, a lamp that emits light in the most sensitive receptors in the human eye. It can be seen better than any other light source. The color is green and has been specified by the FAA for heliports.

Cold cathode lamps do not contain filaments, and therefore are not subject to failure from vibration from prop wash or on towers and bridges. Hazard free operation – A broken lamp cannot cause a fire or explosion in fire danger areas, or within a flammable situation.

The reduction of maintenance, less energy costs, and safety features makes use of these lighting products a very cost effective system for airfield and heliport lighting.
